1. Highlights
- Author or ghostwriter of 15 books and hundreds of articles for music blogs, websites, apps, and clients around the world.
- Over 20 years experience as a guitarist with extensive performance experience all across the world.
- Over a decade experience working as a private music instructor with students of all ages and ability levels.
2. Experience
- I love writing and I love music. In early 2020 I learned that I could combine the two and have worked extensively as a music writer since then.
- I have written extensively for many guitar and music blogs and websites including Guitar Head Publishing, KillerGuitarRigs.com, Skoove, Sound of Life Magazine, and more.
- I am originally from Seattle, Washington but moved to Norway in the summer of 2021 to start a master’s program in music. I have since traveled extensively around Europe and spent time at the Jazz Institute Berlin and Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I recently moved to a house on a hill in the forest of Trondheim and am looking forward to practicing my cross country ski skills this winter, as I will likely need to ski to the market once the snow starts.
3. Education
- Master’s degree from Norwegian University of Science and Technology “European Jazz Master.”
- Graduate Diploma in Film and Game Scoring from Film Score Academy of Europe, Sofia, Bulgaria.
- Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from University of Oregon.
4. Favorite Gear and Current Guitars & Gear
- My favorite instrument of all time is actually the Roland Juno 106. My main guitar is a 1969-70 Gibson ES-335 in Walnut. I played an all original 1968 ES-335 when I was a kid. It was the coolest thing ever and I knew one day I would get one. It took about 15 years, but I finally got my hands on one in early 2021. It is a super cool instrument with tons of weird character. I also love vintage Greco and Ibanez guitars. I think those instruments are fascinating.
5. #1 Moment as a Guitar Player
- Too many to remember. I played Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption” at my 8th grade talent show. That was pretty sick. We share the same birthday.
6. Favorite Genres and Bands
- My musical tastes are quite varied. Some days I listen to Animals as Leaders and try to play like Tosin Abassi. Some days I put on The Cure and learn Robert Smith songs. Other days I transcribe Wes Montgomery or Kurt Rosenwinkel. I love film, classical, and electronic music as well.
7. Current and Past Projects & Bands
- I have been working on my own project, Starship Infinity, since 2016. I have released a handful of LPs, EPs, and singles. The project has included somewhere around 40 people over the years. I have worked as a sideman in more bands than I can remember.
